Shortstown's Centenary Celebrations.

We held a special celebratory assembly today to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Shortstown. Liz Walker, a great great niece of the Short brothers, gave us all a very interesting talk about the Short brothers and the building of airships and aeroplanes in Shortstown. She then presented mugs for all of the pupils along with a potted 'history of Shortstown' leaflet. The mug was designed by one of our Year 3 pupils who won the design competition.

The Great Shortstown Primary Bake Off.

Lots of delicious and fabulous looking cupcakes were entered into our school's baking competition today. The school council judged the staff cakes and Mrs Cottam and Mrs Bobbett judged the pupils' entries.
Our very own 'Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood' sampling the cakes.

Our staff winner was Miss Sage who made a 'burger' cupcake!

Our class winners.
Our overall winner was from Year 1T.
The winning cake from Year 1T-a Rainbow Fish-which looked a lot better before Mrs Cottam and Mrs Bobbett sampled it!

Many.many thanks to all those who took part and to everyone who bought cakes at the end of the day. We have raised £150 towards Mr Cordell's entry in the London Marathon for The Bedford Hospital Trust.

Come and Learn Maths - YR

We invited our parents to see how we learn maths in school. We showed them how we can develo mathematical language within practical activities for example in our shop buying and selling with money, measuring different objects using cubes or matching numeral to quantity using playdough.

Come and Learn ERR -YR

We invited our parents to watch ERR sessions throughout the week. It was really exciting to have them view us learning new letter sounds and using our skills to read simple words as well as identify letter sounds. We also shared with our parents "Mr Thorne" to support with learning pure letter sounds.

Come and Join our Big Draw Activities - YR

Today we celebrated the Big Draw and invited our parents to take part. We used different fruits to create printing techniques making cell pictures. Afterwards the prints were placed with the rest of the school to create a Big Draw image.
